This is a duplicate of the post I made on clubsi.com:

I just installed my J&S Ultra Safeguard v.2 and figured I'd share the pics I took of the install. These directions should work with any version of the Safeguard, and they are specific to the 99+ Si. Pin locations, connector colors, wire colors, etc, may be different on different years.

First, we have the brass "tee" that John ships with the J&S. It is designed to tee into a nylon line, the type the is supplied with most boost gauges. So, that's what I did. Here is a pic of where I tee'd it in (right under the dash on the driver's side):

    install1

Here is a pic of the middle ECU connector. It is gray and labelled "25p". The yellow/black (yellow with black stripe) is a 12 volt power source, the brown/black is a ground source. The green/yellow wire is the VTEC signal. On the other connector, you can see the red/blue knock sensor wire.

    install2

Here is a pic of the blue connector (labelled 31p). It is the connector closest to the passenger seat. On it are the red/blue knock sensor wire and the O2 sensor wire. The O2 sensor wire is the fat white wire. This is not hooked directly to the J&S, but if you use the dual monitor, you will need to use this wire for the a/f gauge.

    install3

I chose to install my J&S inside the glove box because having it there keeps it out of site, make adjustments easy, and locates it so that the wires are close to the ECU.

    install4

Here is a pic of the tools I used to splice into wires. With the exception of the ICM wire, you tap into the signal wires. A clean way of doing this is to remove a small piece of the wiring sheath, wrap the J&S wire around the exposed piece, solder, and tape up.

    install5

This is the last picture, before I taped everything up and put the cover back on. Do not leave any bare wire exposed! Notice that the ICM (also referred to as RPM Signal by VAFC instructions) is cut. The rest of the ECU's wires are tapped into.

    install6

    Happy installing! smile
